On April 8, the signing ceremony of the certificate of Covid-19 vaccine delivery under the aid by the Chinese government to the Vietnamese government was held online. Vice Minister of Commerce Qian Keming and Vice Minister of Health of Vietnam Tran Van Thuan cosigned the certificate. Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Committee of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Vice Chairwoman of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Cai Lixin attended the ceremony via video link.
Since the pandemic broke out, MOFCOM has been firmly committed to international cooperation against Covid-19. As requested by the Vietnamese side, MOFCOM has worked with Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region to provide vaccine support for Vietnam, in a bid to help Vietnam respond to the pandemic and pursue economic and social development.
Vice Minister Qian Keming said that China and Vietnam are good neighbors, friends, comrades and partners that share deep bonds of friendship. In response to the profound changes unseen in a century and the raging Covid-19 pandemic, the two countries have tided over difficulties and supported each other, which amply demonstrates the strategic significance of the spirit of a community with a shared future. China and Vietnam have forged great synergy on trade and economic fronts to fight the virus and advance economic cooperation. Bilateral trade has grown against the headwinds and major progress has been made in various domains of cooperation.
Vice Minister Tran Van Thuan said that as friendly socialist neighbors, Vietnam and China have assisted each other in the Covid response. The vaccines provided by China have played a pivotal role in Vietnam’s fight against the pandemic. It is hoped that with the support and assistance of China, Vietnam can overcome the challenges brought by the pandemic and resume normal production and life.
