CHEN Runyun, male, Han ethnicity, born in December 1966, is from Yihuang, Jiangxi Province. He started to work in August 1989 and joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in November 1997. He holds a Master of Business Management degree.

From August 1989 to March 2001, CHEN worked successively in the Department of Foreign Economic Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (MOFTEC), the Economic and Commercial Office of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Republic of Guinea and in the Republic of Djibouti. In March 2001, he served as Counselor (director level) of the Economic and Commercial Office of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Republic of Benin. From June 2005 to February 2007, CHEN was appointed Director of the Comprehensive Office and then Director of the General Office, Department of Outward Investment and Economic Cooperation, Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM). From March 2007 to October 2020, he worked as Counsellor (deputy director general level) of the Economic and Commercial Office of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Georgia. He then served as Commercial Counsellor (deputy director general level) of the Department of Outward Investment and Economic Cooperation, MOFCOM, and then Minister Counsellor (deputy director general level) of the Permanent Mission of the People’s Republic of China to the World Trade Organization (WTO). CHEN participated in the training on international exhibition organized in Hong Kong by the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, and the training on budgetary and financial policy and management held in Washington D.C. by the International Monetary Fund (IMF). He also engaged in the study of public policy administration at Peking University.

CHEN took office in November 2020 as Vice President (deputy director general level) of the Academy for International Business Officials (AIBO) (also known as the Training Center), MOFCOM. He is in charge of the Liaison Office of Human Resources Development, the Development Training Project Management Division I, the Development Training Project Management Division II, the Logistic Services Department, and the Information Services Department.
