AIBO Initiates China’s First Online Foreign-assistance Training Program

On the afternoon of December 8, the online opening ceremony of the “2020 Ministerial Workshop on Attracting International Investment for Developing Countries” was held, which is sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) and organized by the Academy for International Business Officials (AIBO). President SUN Zhonghe of AIBO, Vice President CHEN Runyun of AIBO, Vice President LEI Hao of AIBO, Deputy Director General ZHANG Yi of the China International Center for Economic and Technical Exchanges (CICETE), Minister-Counsellor ZHAO Zhongyi of the Economic and Commercial Office of the Chinese Embassy in the Republic of South Africa, Commercial Counsellor CHAI Zhijing of the Economic and Commercial Office of the Chinese Embassy in the Republic of Ghana, and 33 workshop participants from Ghana and South Africa attended the ceremony. Vice President LEI Hao made a welcome speech on behalf of AIBO. Mr. Isaac Kofi Yankson, Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Ghana, and Ms. Jacqueline Lorraine Luthuli, President of the Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry, made opening remarks on behalf of the participants.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this seven-day online workshop is the first one held in 2020 creatively based on Internet technology, aiming to overcome constraints of time and space, tell stories about China well and spread the voice of China. It has achieved a historic breakthrough in the model of foreign-assistance training programs and set a benchmark for the implementation and management of subsequent ones.
